300 SAAL GURU DE NAAL-JAGRATI YATRA STARTS WITH "SIMRAN DIWAS"

From the streets of Punjab to the expressways of Canada, millions of Sikhs got together in a unique manner as the biggest event in the history of mankind kicked off at Nanded. Marking the beginning of a year long celebration of the 300th year of the consecration of GURU GRANTH SAHIB, Sikhs across the globe celebrated Simran Diwas and joined in to recite the 'Mool Mantra' at 04:30 pm IST. The highlight of Simran Diwas is that thousands of Sikhs assembled at Nanded for this auspicious ceremony and it was also supported by the Sikhs across as they all exhorted the Mool Mantra at the same time irrespective of whichever part of the world they were in.
The devouts reconnected with the God by reciting the 'Mool Mantra' for 15 minutes, exactly at the same time across the globe. From afternoon itself Sikhs everywhere were glued to their TV screens watching the preparations for Simran Diwas and the start of Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra live from Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib, Nanded. At 4:30pm everyone started chanting Mool Mantra together for 15 minutes irrespective of where they are and what they may be doing. While thousands of devotees gathered at Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded and recited the Mool Mantra, people in other parts of the country got together at Gurudwaras, homes etc with relatives and friends to recite the Mool Mantra. The atmosphere everywhere reverberated with holy chants.
Simran Diwas marks the beginning of a year long celebration, '300 Saal Guru De Naal', to commemorate 300 years of Gurta Gaddi in October 2008 at Nanded. Gurta Gaddi marks the anniversary of consecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji as the holy Guru of Sikhs forever. Over 4 million devotees are expected to visit Hazur Sahib, Nanded in next one year. And to prepare for this, several development activities are being undertaken in a mammoth scale and speed.Just after the chant, the Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra started its journey of faith carrying for the first time ever, shastars of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and other shaheed sikhs along with puratan hast-likhit Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji for darshan by devotees across the world. The Jagriti Yatra aims to connect to devotees across the world spreading the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and celebrating 300 Saal, Guru De Naal.
